Betsy Wilson, a ThreeBestRated® award-winning interior designer from Caledon, talks about the latest designing trends of 2021

The global pandemic has certainly made an impact on all of our lives. With more people working and learning from home, they are now looking for creative ways to make their space comfortable and trendy. So, what are the latest interior designing trends to watch out for in 2021?

Who can give a better suggestion than an interior designer? So, ThreeBestRated® reached out to Betsy Wilson, a 2021 ThreeBestRated® award-winning interior designer in Caledon. And she was more than happy to share some insights.

Comfy workspace and home gyms are the new norms:

Due to the global pandemic and lockdowns, there have been major shifts towards creating a work/life space in people’s homes. “With more time being spent in our homes, it is becoming even more imperative that we love the space that surrounds us. So, finding innovative ways to integrate our workspaces into our living spaces will continue to be in high demand,” she explains.

Another fast-growing trend in the designing industry is home gyms. “Home gyms have also come to the forefront of design with the emphasis being made on ways to integrate wellness into our daily lives,” she says.

The next big trend is home automation. I mean, we all would have dreamed about a tech that lets us turn off the lights and close the windows and blinds from our bed, right? “With home automation, lighting, heating/cooling, entertainment and even window covering solutions can be automated and controlled by voice or from the touch of our smartphones,” Betsy explains.

About Betsy Wilson Interiors:

From her young age, Betsy had a passion for designing. “For as long as I can remember, the design has been a driving force in my life. As a child, instead of playing with my toys, I would use them to style my bookshelves, making sure everything was placed just so,” she says.

“After completing my post-secondary education and starting my career as a Secondary School teacher, I realized that my true passion was Interior Design. While on maternity leave from teaching, I enrolled at Sheridan College and completed my design diploma. It was a very difficult decision to leave teaching, but it came a time in my life when I was reflecting on what makes me truly happy – pugs, my family and design…in that order,” she further adds.

Thanks to the support she got from her family, friends and clients, she was able to turn her passion into a growing business. “I started off by going door to door, leaving postcards promoting my colour consultation services. I was so eager and excited to be able to share my passion with others; the thought that I could make money doing it was like a dream come true,” Betsy says, reminiscing her past.

“I have been in the field of design now for ten years and feel so fortunate knowing that the best years are yet to come,” she further adds.

She offers personalized design solutions for her clients. “My specialties are the kitchen, bathroom, and custom millwork design. My computer-drawn plans and 3D models are a great tool for my clients to help them visualize the design. I also create furniture plans and whole home design packages for my clients who value a professional and curated approach to choosing furniture pieces for their homes,” she says.

She is looking forward to another busy year of learning and growing. “I will continue to build my business and brand leaning more into my social media platforms such as Instagram to share ideas and collaborate. I will continue to push myself to create personalized design solutions with a focus on bringing the latest in industry innovations to my clients,” she says.
