Sacramento Speakers Series announced today that AT&T has agreed to sponsor the upcoming Yo-Yo Ma event on Tuesday, December 9, 2014. The series lineup consists of world renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma, television journalist Anderson Cooper, long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad and New York Times columnist David Brooks.
AT&T will participate as a corporate sponsor for the Share the Vision program for the entire season. Through the support of AT&T, the Sacramento Speakers Series is able to offer students the opportunities to not only hear nationally and internationally known figures, but also meet with them and ask questions in a private reception. The sponsorship is part of AT&T’s ongoing commitment to improve the education and communities in Sacramento.
Managing principal and attorney Mitchell Ostwald describes the sponsorship as “an opportunity for both companies to impact Sacramento high school students with exposure to the six exceptional speakers coming this season. AT&T is committed to supporting organizations implementing verifiable, evidenced-based interventions that improve education and prepare students for college or career.”
Celebrating its 10th anniversary season, Sacramento Speakers Series offers an impressive list of leaders, authors, scientists, and visionaries, each chosen on the basis of career achievements, unique expertise in a particular field of endeavor, and ability to communicate their particular passion to the audience. The Sacramento Speakers Series is a community lecture series that provides an open forum for a free discussion of timely and important issues by nationally acclaimed speakers. Ostwald described the series as “an extraordinary community experience that gives our patrons an opportunity to hear about and question renowned and influential people from a wide variety of backgrounds on an even wider variety of topics.”
