Olympic Valley, CA (PRUnderground) February 10th, 2021
Alpenglow Expeditions, one of the leading mountain guide companies in the country, announced it has the go-ahead to host two climbing expeditions to the Karakoram mountain range in Northern Pakistan this summer. This is welcome news for climbers who have seen the sport essentially shut down because of the pandemic.
Scheduled for June, Alpenglow will run an intermediate 16-day K2 & G2 Rapid Ascent™ Base Camp Trek and an advanced 32-day Gasherbrum II Rapid Ascent™ Expedition which will include a summit of G2, an 8,034m (26,362 ft) peak that offers an incredible climbing experience in one of the most remote and rugged mountain ranges in the world.
“It’s been a tough year for people who thrive on outdoor adventure, so we’re especially thrilled to reopen the world of climbing with this pair of exciting excursions,” said Adrian Ballinger, founder and CEO of Alpenglow Expeditions. “The trek to K2 and G2 Basecamps is the most beautiful and rugged I’ve done anywhere in the world. Those opting to summit G2 are in for a truly visually stunning experience.”
Situated in Northern Pakistan, the Karakoram boasts more 7,000 m+ peaks than anywhere else in the world. Rising from the foot of the Baltoro Glacier, K2 and Gasherbrum II are magnificent, towering mountains that are truly a spectacle to behold. Climbing in this storied mountain range instills a sense of awe in all who are fortunate enough to witness its remote and wild landscape.
The G2 expedition will feature Alpenglow’s Rapid Ascent™ method. First developed by Adrian Ballinger, Rapid Ascent™ is a unique approach to climbing big mountains across the world. This innovative program combines hypoxic training with precise logistics and small team sizes to reduce the overall time spent away from home, while greatly increasing the chance of success on your international climbing expedition. On average, Rapid Ascent™ expeditions reduce the time of traditional expeditions by 30% – 50% allowing busy climbers to follow their passion in the mountains, while maintaining the responsibilities of a busy life.
