A Life on the Run: Conversations Book Club Book of the Month

Conversations Book Club has selected “A Life on the Run: Seeking and Safeguarding Social Justice” as its Book of the Month for May. “A Life on the Run,” released by Harmonie Park Press (January 2010) is the first book by Dr. John Telford, a noted educator and civil rights activist based in Detroit, Michigan.

Dr. Telford will appear on air during Cyrus Webb’s Conversations LIVE! On Sunday, May 23, at 7p.m. The show will be streamed live on Blog Talk Radio at www.blogtalkradio.com/conversationslive. Listeners are encouraged to call in during the broadcast with their questions.

“A Life on the Run” has received acclaim fr0m a wide range of critics and scholars. These include:

  • “Once one of the fastest men on the planet, John Telford remains a fast and indomitable fighter for human rights.  His luminous life story is in turn outraged, droll, scandalous, and sexy.  Also, his sometimes self-deprecating and dryly ironic humor never fails to make the discerning reader smile.”

– Dr. Wayne Dyer, former student, and author of “Your Erroneous Zones”

  • “Contained within the pages of Telford’s book are enough colorful stories to embellish the lives of several characters. They all happened to one man, who, by almost any measure, is quite simply an extraordinary individual.”

– Michigan Chronicle Living

  • “A fascinating ‘tell-all’ autobiography. Pulling no punches (he’s a former boxer) and pushing his ‘tell-it-like-I-see-it’ philosophy, Telford describes his five-decades crusade to save Detroit kids fr0m neglect and mismanagement.”
