If you are planning to stay at a London B+B in the coming weeks and are looking for something exciting to do, there could be no better option than spending an evening at the Royal Albert Hall in the company of the Cirque du Soleil and their amazing new production, Totem.
After wowing tens of thousands of fans with their visit last year, the mercurial theatre troupe have decided to return to the capital for a series of repeat performances.
Just one of a string of mind-blowing shows Cirque du Soleil has put on since their formation in 1984, Totem is, like all of their productions, entirely unique. Charting the evolution of mankind from mythical roots, it is an enchanting representation of man’s development from its origins as a simple amphibian, right up to its enduring desire of flight.
This may sound like an ambitious project for a group of circus performers to tackle, but they do it with incredible style and inimitable grace. As is always the case, the many cast members of the Cirque du Soleil push themselves to their limits with high-flying, death-defying exhibitions which blur the boundaries between theatre, acrobatics and dance. With each feat representing a further stage in the evolution of man, Totem’s many displays go from parallel bar and trampoline performances to a roller skating and hoop dance finale, with acts such as Chinese unicycles and foot jugglers in between.
