STC Poses the Question – The HPV Vaccine To Prevent Cancers In Men: How Are We Doing?

Industry: Healthcare

ANSWER: We are failing -- thousands of young boys will end up with cancers that could have been prevented with a simple pair of vaccines

Scottsdale, Arizona (PRUnderground) December 15th, 2016

There’s not just an epidemic of HPV-related cancers; there’s an epidemic of preventable cancers. The same vaccine that prevents cervical cancer in women, can prevent several HPV-related cancers in men, including stopping the epidemic of throat cancers.

How are we doing in getting our young people vaccinated? STC recently reviewed vaccination rates for young males and females (9-18 years old). Using data from a number of state public health departments (with a sample size of over 3 million cases) revealed a completion rate for all three doses of 15.5% for girls and just 11% for boys.

Dr. Scott Hamstra, STC Medical Advisor, bemoaned these results: “To leave our young and men and women at an increased risk for cancer, when a vaccination exists, is simply unacceptable. We are failing.” He adds, “Anyone, anywhere who has ever suffered cancer themselves or in their family or friends know that they would do ANYTHING in their power to save them.  Well… time is of the essence, and opportunity is at hand, to do exactly that – save your loved ones from cancer.”

To illustrate the connection, Scientific Technologies Corporation today released a new cartoon that lays bare the link between getting boys vaccinated and the prospects of throat cancer.
