More than $7,000 raised to help people rebuild after ravaging fire
THORNHILL, ONTARIO (PRUnderground) May 16th, 2016
Wimpy’s Diner Thornhill owner Dino Pantelidis has raised more than $7,000 for victims of the fire at Fort McMurray.
Pantelidis opened the doors of his diner to raise funds for the Fort McMurray fire disaster, and according to the diner owner, 100 percent of the revenues from sales were combined to equate to $7,000 in funds for the victims.
“We felt compelled to pay it forward and help however we can,” said Pantelidis.
Wimpy’s Diner Thornhill is a small 50s style diner with just 9 tables within its 900 square feet of dining space. On the menu, customers will find all-day breakfast items, sandwiches, burgers, and dinners. Pantelidis is pleased that his tiny diner was able to generate so much in funds for the victims of the Fort McMurray fire disaster.
Across the day, Wimpy’s Diner Thornhill was visited by local MP Peter Kent. City of Markham’s Mayor Frank Scarpitti also helped raise funds for the Fort McMurray fire victims.
Pantelidis says he hopes that other businesses will also work to raise funds to help the Fort McMurray fire victims rebuild. Approximately 20 percent of homes in Fort McMurray were lost during the fires.
