UC Berkeley Graduate Assembly Relaunches Website with Toi

The UC Berkeley Graduate Assembly, the official representative body of the graduate and professional students at University of California, relaunched their website, www.ga.berkeley.edu, with the help of digital agency Toi. The Graduate Assembly, which aims to provide regular coverage of issues relevant to graduate students at the local and national level, sought out a partner to optimize the user experience and encourage repeat visits of graduate and professional students.

“We knew we were working on behalf of an intelligent and vibrant audience, so we really had to pay attention to information hierarchy, user-flow, and functionality. From desktop to mobile, we wanted to consistently make the experience relevant and intuitive,” said Nathan Ryan of Toi.

In order to make the relaunch as effective as possible, Toi provided research, UX/UI design, front-end and back-end development, as well as quality assurance and launch support services. Throughout the process, Toi worked alongside Graduate Assembly members to ensure the usability of the site’s core features and functionality were top of mind; a calendar of social and academic events, campus announcements, information on graduate student government and funding, and advocacy and programming for Berkeley’s diverse graduate population.

With a sitemap that covers everything from funding to resources, the GA’s website had to function as an essential tool in sharing information. A close second in priority was the need to amplify the networks and projects. Relaunched in April 2015, Toi is proud of their partnership and the final product. Responsive for desktop and mobile, the site is live at www.ga.berkeley.edu.
