New release of the cloudSM cloud management platform gives users unprecedented control over their public, private and hybrid cloud environments
Sterling, VA (PRUnderground) January 21st, 2015
Ostrato, an innovative provider of enterprise cloud management solutions, today announced the latest release of its cloudSM cloud management platform – code named Granite. This release was built to meet the needs of agile enterprises by providing additional support for cloud providers, as well as upgraded visibility and management capabilities.
“We work with Microsoft Azure and other cloud environments on a daily basis and know how difficult it is to manage and monitor these cloud environments,” said Nitin Agarwal, CEO of MotifWorks. “Traditional IT management tools don’t work for us due to complexity and cost. Ostrato’s platform provides a cost effective and innovative approach to cloud administration and governance for both single and multi-cloud deployments – helping us reduce monthly spend and cloud management administration time.”
The improved capabilities released today include:
- Microsoft Azure Government Integration – in mid-December, Microsoft announced Microsoft Azure Government (MAG). To support government users, Ostrato rapidly extended Azure support to include MAG. cloudSM supports MAG at the same high level of functionality as the commercial Azure platform.
- Enhanced AWS Support – cloudSM now provides deeper support for AWS services. The AWS services supported now include S3, RDS, CloudFormation, and networking management, including the creation of virtual private clouds. Services already supported prior to this release include EC2 and EBS, in addition to general management tools.
- Utilization Monitoring – cloudSM now employs granular monitoring of utilization data from AWS, OpenStack and VMware environments. Users can monitor the utilization of CPU, disk, and network.
- Budget Tracking – the financial management capabilities of cloudSM now include the ability to track budgets at the project and group level.
- Parking Calendars – we have included the ability to apply parking calendars to newly ingested services, to help customers more quickly realize savings in their cloud service providers.
- Composite Management – cloudSM has previously included the capability to build, order and provision composite services across cloud providers. Now, users can prioritize provisioning for individual items within a composite, allowing for automatic deployment in a specified order.
“cloudSM is a single, lightweight cloud abstraction layer, with a robust governance model for our customers, and a secure self-service marketplace for their enterprise users. With the Granite release, we continue to deepen our integration across the top cloud service platforms, enabling our customers to have the right balance of governance, choice and ease of use,” said Dale Wickizer, Ostrato’s Chief Technology Officer.
