LifeCycle Gardens, a young Gardening product company which produces the Garden On Wheelz have recently launched a new campaign to donate 100 Garden On Wheelz in 100 elementary schools all over the USA through the Kids Helping Kids program.
Justin Connell, the inventor and owner of the Garden on wheelz explains, “We want to help educate students about their food source during their formative years in elementary school. Studies have shown that teaching children how to grow their own food will make them look at eating vegetables in an entirely different way. Not to mention showing them how to be sustainable and make healthier eating choices for years to come.”
Garden on Wheelz is a portable garden with a wheelbarrow-like design that allows it to be moved easily, so it can be wheeled to a shady spot for weeding or harvesting and then back into the sunshine the rest of the time. Or it could be planted with seeds indoors while the weather is still cold and then moved outside when the temperature warms. A perfect compliment to any school program.
“96% of kids are willing to eat the vegetables they grew themselves…even though they normally would not eat those same vegetables.” According to research done by Justin’s company, LifeCycle gardens.
The Garden on Wheelz can be used to grow fresh organic produce, regardless of space or sunlight restrictions. Its legs can be adjusted in height from 30.5 to 37 inches, allowing the gardener to work either sitting or standing.
The mobile garden also has a water reservoir and a recycling system that catches water runoff for reuse. It’s made of food-grade plastic and provides 5.25 cubic feet of growing space. According to the National Gardening Association you can grow 31.5lbs of fresh produce in just one year using this amount of space.
You can see the campaign and get involved with Lifecycle Gardens who are going to donate 100 Garden on Wheelz to 100 schools on Indiegogo.com.
Garden on Wheelz is also available to purchase through Global Garden Friends, or on Amazon.
