Fintech leader and philanthropist Eric Hannelius has announced his support for THON, the world’s largest student-run philanthropy dedicated to raising awareness and funds for children battling cancer. Organized by Penn State University students, THON is a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon that brings together thousands of participants each year to support pediatric cancer patients and their families.
Since its founding, THON has raised over $200 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, helping to cover treatment costs, fund critical research, and provide essential support services for families facing childhood cancer.
“THON is an inspiring movement that demonstrates the incredible power of collective action,” said Eric Hannelius. “These students are making a real difference in the lives of children and families affected by cancer, and I’m honored to support their mission. No child or family should have to fight this battle alone.”
THON’s impact extends beyond financial contributions—it fosters a strong sense of community, hope, and resilience for families navigating the challenges of childhood cancer. The annual event unites students, alumni, and supporters nationwide in an effort to bring awareness to pediatric cancer and work toward a cure.
“We are grateful for Eric Hannelius’s support in our mission to conquer childhood cancer,” said a THON representative. “His generosity and advocacy help fuel the dedication of our student volunteers and ensure we can continue making a meaningful impact on families in need.”
With over 25 years of experience in financial technology, Eric Hannelius has built and led successful companies, including Vision Payment Solutions Inc. and his current venture, Pepper Pay LLC.
