Someone in India needs a blood transfusion every 2 seconds. Patients like Cancer patients, Sickle Cell Anemia and Thalassemia patients require blood frequently. But the blood donations are coming in bit-by-bit. ModFx Labs believes there is a need to re-think our approach, and Technology with Incentivization can dramatically change the state of affairs.

Mandeep Singh, Anant Pokharna, Saurabh Saxena, Kinshuk Jerath & Pulkit Grover were enjoying their leisurely lives, when one fine day in Jan 2023, they came to a realization that their work was not offering them the satisfaction they desire. They talked, they debated, and finally decided that they will devote most of their time to some social cause. After 2 weeks of reasoning, they concurred on solving one of the biggest problems facing their nation, the Blood Donations. They knew they had to compromise on their earnings and live a simple lifestyle if they had to commit to this cause, and that is exactly what they did. They put in their own personal savings to bootstrap the operation.
After 2 years of dedicated effort, their venture ModFx Labs has achieved blood donations from 38,000 blood donors and has ambitions of growing it by 300% in the next 1 year. The key to their approach is incentization through the use of their Location Technology.
The Company works with multiple NGOs in Bihar, Jharkhand & Madhya Pradesh, where the NGO partners send the company a daily list of blood donors who claim to have donated blood at a certain blood donation camp. ModFx Labs Location Technology Platform validates their visit to relevant blood donation camps. Then, the company notifies the relevant NGO Partners with a list of blood donors who actually visited the blood donation camps using it’s Non-Personally Identifiable Location-Data based Technology Platform. Finally, the NGO partners pay INR 1,000 to each of the validated donors.

One out of every three of us will need blood in our life span. Blood donation doesn’t cause weakness in an individual. Every individual has 6 liters of blood in their body and can donate blood every 90 days. Human body can recover blood very rapidly, particularly blood plasma volume recovery happens within 24 – 48 hours, red blood cells recovery takes about 3 weeks and platelets & white blood cells recovery transpires within minutes. We need to encourage people to donate blood.
The Company believes that if Mobile App Companies & Government Agencies support it’s initiative, then it can employ its Location Technology Platform to validate donor blood donation center visits by using anonymous & MD5 encrypted mobile location information, thereby increasing the blood donations drastically. ModFx Labs takes explicit consent from the blood donors before using their location information.
But, as per Mandeep Singh & Anant Pokharna, the Company needs MD5 encrypted Mobile to Advertising ID mappings for 50 crore Indians, if it desires to pull off its blood donation ambitions. One comforting factor is that the company is receiving adequate support from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The founders are in talks with multiple Government Agencies and private companies for support.
