Salt Lake City, UT (PRUnderground) March 11th, 2024

Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) recently recognized Intermountain Health as the first organization in the world to attain Stage 7 validation of the newly modernized HIMSS Infrastructure Adoption Model (INFRAM). This marks the first organization to be declared a Quadruple Stage 7 Healthcare Organization worldwide. Intermountain was also the first healthcare organization to validate on INFRAM2024 globally, as well as the first combined Stage 6 and 7 INFRAM2024 Validation worldwide.

The new INFRAM helps healthcare leaders analyze and optimize their systems’ technical infrastructure, creating a comprehensive assessment report that highlights critical gaps and potential risks. INFRAM also identifies opportunities and creates a roadmap for future improvements for healthcare delivery in areas of cybersecurity, adoption, sustainability, performance, and clinical outcomes.

Modernized by a global board of experts, INFRAM measures systems with the HIMSS eight-stage (0-7) model framework, while placing greater emphasis on identifying and driving adoption and performance of an organization’s infrastructure to drive measurable contributions to the value and outcomes of an organization.

“These groundbreaking achievements emphasize Intermountain’s steadfast commitment to establishing novel standards of excellence in global healthcare,” HIMSS said in a release last week,

“In a remarkable feat, Intermountain goes beyond exceeding expectations by not just presenting three, but four robust outcomes-based case studies. These compelling examples showcase the seamless integration of people, process, and technology, harmonized within a culture of innovation, placing patient care unequivocally at the forefront of their organization.”

“The transformative case studies of diverse realms such as cardiac care, virtual care, ventilator management, and hyperbaric therapy, reveal how Intermountain excels in merging cutting-edge solutions with compassionate healthcare practices, while discovering the real-world impact of their commitment to innovation and excellence in patient care. Intermountain demonstrated how innovation, excellence and commitment converge for the betterment of patient well-being in healthcare, by going above and beyond in every dimension.”

The HIMSS’ release also said, “Intermountain doesn’t just embrace innovation; it defines the future of healthcare through a multitude of robust enterprise-wide examples. From elevating caregiver and patient engagement to refining value analysis processes, finance, governance, and enterprise communications, they’ve redefined excellence in every facet. Their commitment extends to enhancing physician and advanced practice provider experiences, prioritizing caregiver well-being, and ensuring a seamless patient journey. Intermountain’s dedication to robust data and analytics governance and processes is evident, shaping a digital workforce and fostering a culture of intelligent automation.”

“Intermountain is delving into the dynamic world of machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, optical character recognition, ambient listening, interactive voice response, conversational artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, and extract-transform and load databases. Their journey includes the integration of physical robotics and a nuanced approach to ambient intelligence and generative artificial intelligence, all geared towards supporting and enhancing provider interactions with patients to lead the charge in transforming healthcare experiences and setting new benchmarks for innovation and excellence. Intermountain leads the way in harnessing the power of technology, where they elevate provider interactions with patients through cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence.”

Intermountain previously secured validation on three other HIMSS maturity models –  EMRAMO-EMRAM, and AMAM. Intermountain was the first organization in the world to achieve triple stage 7 Combined validation in 2022, positioning it as a global frontrunner in HIMSS achievements and underscoring its dedication to pioneering innovations in healthcare infrastructure and excellence.

“Our journey is intertwined with significant milestones, having attained validation on four HIMSS maturity models,” said Farukh Usmani, MD, medical director, Intermountain Health Digital Technology Services. “This achievement reflects our relentless commitment to excellence, innovation, collaboration, and a patient-centric future, marking a transformative shift in healthcare technology. Leading and achieving the pioneering endeavor to become the first Quadruple Stage 7 organization worldwide fills me and my team with pride, as we stand at the vanguard of history in the making. We are embarking on a new era, marked by remarkable advancements in healthcare, shaping the future.”

“Receiving INFRAM Stage 7 status is a tremendous achievement for us and places Intermountain Health as the first Quadruple Stage 7 organization in the industry. That recognition highlights the dedicated work of our caregivers to deliver personalized patient care,” said Craig Richardville, Chief Digital and Information Officer at Intermountain Health.

“As an organization, it is our mission to help individuals live their healthiest lives possible. It is through unlocking the potential of health data that we can truly empower patients with the tools they need to achieve their health goals. It’s exciting to witness the cutting edge of digital health, where innovation and progress meet, ” added Richardville.

“This strategic effort is all geared towards supporting and enhancing provider interactions with patients, positioning Intermountain at the forefront of transforming healthcare experiences, and setting new benchmarks for innovation and excellence,” added Dr. Usmani “Our goal in harnessing the power of technology is to elevate provider interactions with patients, while utilizing cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence.”

The new Modernized INFRAM24 Stage 7 Maturity Model
The Infrastructure Adoption Model (INFRAM) improves outcomes at the foundations of business with technology and infrastructure that highlights opportunities for current investments, and a roadmap for future improvements that is includes cybersecurity risk planning and mitigation, for long-term success.

Modernized by a global board of experts, INFRAM measures facilities with the HIMSS eight-stage (0-7) model framework, while placing greater emphasis on identifying and driving adoption and performance of an organization’s infrastructure to drive measurable contributions to the value and outcomes of an organization.

The INFRAM24 Maturity Model also identifies opportunities for future improvements, at the core of healthcare delivery for Cybersecurity, Adoption, Sustainability, Performance, and Clinical Outcomes — which are the guiding principles, steering organizations towards measurable contributions to the value and outcomes. This isn’t just about addressing the present; it’s about shaping the future of healthcare, ensuring a trajectory of long-term success to redefine the core of healthcare delivery and pave the way for a sustainable and impactful future.
