Dr. Erika Wichro will be featured in IAOTP’s Top 50 Fearless Leaders Book

Dr. Erika Wichro, MD, MAS (LLM), MA, MPH, CEO of Peacebuilding and Partners Sarl, was recently chosen to be featured in the Top 50 Fearless Leaders Publication by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).

While being selected to be published in IAOTP’s Top 50 Fearless Leaders Publication, is an honor in itself, only 50 of the world’s most brilliant, courageous, inspirational professionals are selected for this distinction.

These special honorees are hand selected to share their stories of perseverance, resilience, passion and strength. They have made outstanding contributions to society; they have impacted their industries and are respected in their trades. A chapter will be dedicated to each honoree and the book is anticipated to be released in the 4th quarter of 2021.

Dr. Wichro has exemplary brilliance in her field and has dedicated more than a decade of her career as an Austrian Medical Doctor. She was recognized as Top International Public Health Expert of the Year for 2020 and Dr. Wichro was named Empowered Woman of the Year. She will receive these recognitions at IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala being held at the Plaza Hotel in New York City this December.

Dr. Wichro has demonstrated success by serving those most in need and by using her abilities to strengthen local and international capacity, connection and resilience. She is multilingual in English, German, French, Arabic and Spanish. Dr. Wichro has completed more than 15 years of clinical-medical work in Austria and served over 10 years in Worldwide Humanitarian Crisis Management as well as participated in various medical research programs.
Dr. Wichro established the consulting business Peacebuilding and Partners Sarl in Switzerland in 2018, following the personal experience on how important collaboration between different sectors is e.g. politics, law, economics, health, public health and civil protection. She understands from own experience affected people’s pain and the discomfort they are going through in these uncertain times. She and her team go the extra mile for those in need of support, so all achieve the goals.

Dr. Wichro has served in health emergencies such as Ebola, Polio, Measles, Bird flu and more for the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Commission, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Other countries she has served as an International Public Health Expert include Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Turkey, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, the Pacific Countries. Dr. Wichro engaged in the Influenza Pandemic Planning and Preparedness and the COVID-19 management in Austria as an independent Senior Health Emergency Expert and supports pandemic preparedness in various countries around the globe.

PBP Sarl provides technical guidance and support in form of consultancy for individuals, smaller communities and countries or organizations. Their purpose is to serving those most in need and to strengthening local and international capacity, connection and resilience. Before embarking on her professional career path, Dr. Wichro received training and education in Economics, Ethics and International Law in Armed Conflict. She is also a Psycho-Social expert in the EU (European Union) Civil Protection Mechanism and trainer in High-Level EU courses. Dr. Wichro completed her Medical Training at the Medical University of Graz and the University Clinic Graz, Austria. Dr. Wichro received her Master’s in Public International Health from Boston University, her Master of Arts from Karl-Franzens University in Graz, Austria, and her Masters of Advanced Studies on International Law in Armed Conflict from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law And Human Rights. Upon completion of these degrees, Dr. Wichro has continued her education through various coursework at Harvard University School of Public Health and most recently earned her Executive Master of International Law from Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights.

Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Wichro has received many awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the healthcare industry. Last year she was featured in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and this year she will be considered for the prestigious International Healthcare Hero Award. For 2022 she was chosen to be a guest on the International TIP Radio Show.

In addition to her successful career, Dr. Wichro is an active volunteer for Disaster and Humanitarian Relief. She is a devoted Senior Technical Expert for the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, an Acute Psychosocial Support contributing in the Crisis Response Journal, and has lent her expertise in the 7.5 Earthquake exercise scenario in Romania for the European Commission.  Dr. Wichro is also a sought-after speaker on managing health security threats and pandemics and is a contributor to numerous professional publications.

Looking back, Dr. Wichro attributes her success to her compassion and concern for human health, her interdisciplinarity and cross-sectoral understanding, perseverance and remaining passionate in all her endeavors. She is passionate about linking academics, research, policy-making, management and field operations to strengthening communities` capabilities and resilience. When not working she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. For the future, she hopes to continue making a difference in people’s lives through her volunteer work and professional dedications.
