Dr. Shervin Louie, a renowned cosmetic dentist in LA, is supporting the value of local education through the awarding of the Smile in LA Scholarship.

Dentists are no strangers to a rigorous education. To become a top-tier dentist, one must complete years of undergraduate and post-graduate training, culminating in a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.
Dr. Shervin M. Louie, a renowned cosmetic dentist in Los Angeles, often referred to as the “Dentist to the Stars” for his impressive roster of celebrity patients, is proud of the education he received at the University of Southern California. Not only did he earn his DDS from the USC School of Dentistry, he also taught there for ten years and received an award for Outstanding Service.
For the last several years, Dr. Louie has been proud to offer a scholarship through his dental practice. He hopes that by paying it forward, he can help the next generation of students excel in their field of study, whether that’s dentistry or something else they’re passionate about.
Dr. Louie’s Smile in LA Scholarship
The terms of the scholarship can be found on the website of Dr. Louie’s practice: www.smileinla.com. To apply, students must submit an essay either through physical mail or email. The essay question is:
“What major problem do you believe is most important or critical in the world today? How do you plan to help address this problem? How will your major or area of study be used in this plan?”
Essays must be 600 – 1,000 words. The scholarship amount of $500 is presented to one student per year. There is no fee required to apply. The next deadline is August 25, 2020.
The Value of a Great Education
Dr. Louie believes strongly that education is a lifelong pursuit. Even after graduating from USC, he pursued additional training in Cosmetic Dentistry and Implant Reconstruction.
Since Dr. Louie sees so many actors and other professionals who earn their living from being on camera, he has developed an expertise in techniques such as teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and Invisalign. With his knowledge of aesthetics, he understands how to make a person’s smile symmetrical, sparkling, and well-balanced with the rest of their appearance.
Dental implants and dentures are also offered at Dr. Louie’s practice. These two methods of replacing missing teeth are utilized based on the patient’s health and their personal preference.
