2021 CarBuzz Track Weapon Award Finalists Announced

The Track Weapon category of the annual CarBuzz Awards has included icons like the Lotus Evora GT and the Corvette Stingray in the past, and for 2021, the list of nominees is equally impressive, spanning across brands like BMW, Lamborghini, Porsche, and Pagani. CarBuzz has announced the finalists in this category.

Track Weapon

Nominees for the 2021 Track Weapon Award include the cars you’d want to take for a hot lap time and time again; these vehicles don’t have to be the most powerful or the quickest around the track, but if it makes you want to come back for more, it gets a place on the list of nominees. The list includes:

  • BMW M4

  • Subaru WRX STI

  • Lamborghini Huracan STO

  • Cadillac CT4-V/CT5-V Blackwing

  • Mercedes-AMG CLA 45

  • Porsche 911 GTS

  • Pagani Huayra Roadster

  • Toyota GR86/Subaru BRZ

From this list of worthy nominees, the following made the finals:

2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing

The Blackwing brothers were so impressive that they earned one finalist spot, and CarBuzz drove them back to back. The CT4-V Blackwing has a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 that makes 472 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque for the rear wheels. The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing ups that to 668 hp and 659 lb-ft, thanks to a supercharged 6.2-liter V8. Managing Editor, Jake Lingeman notes that both Cadillacs are “flawless on the street, and manageable and sharp – but forgiving – on the track.”

Pagani Huayra Roadster BC

The Pagani Huayra Roadster was only available for a test drive this year, and since it is too brilliant to ignore, the 2020 model year Roadster made it onto the list of finalists. It brings undeniably theatrical looks to the table, has an incredible suspension setup, and boasts outputs of up to 791 hp. The 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 results in 2.2 g of lateral acceleration, allowing it to pass 60 mph in under three seconds and get up to a top speed of 200 mph.

2021 Lamborghini Huracan STO

The Lamborghini Huracan STO was developed with the experience the legendary marque earned from its Super Trofeo one-make race car series. Powering the Huracan is a 5.2-liter V10 with 630 hp, and with only around 3,000 pounds of body weight, it can sprint to 60 mph in three seconds dead. An adjustable wing, carbon body panels, roof-mounted air scoop, and rear-axle steering make this car a track weapon that is hard to rival. The experience behind the wheel is characterized by driver engagement and the desire to get better lap times after every run.

To qualify, all nominees had to be available for a week-long test drive in 2021. Winners will be announced on November 30, 2021. Full article available here: https://carbuzz.com/features/2021-carbuzz-awards-finalists-track-weapon
