2021 CarBuzz Best Interior Award Finalists Announced

Luxurious cabins with high-quality materials and excellent fit and finish are required to score a nomination for the Best Interior Award. According to CarBuzz, the list doesn’t necessarily have to include the most expensive cars, and the finalists that have just been announced cover the entire spectrum.

Criteria for this category include luxury, technology, and ergonomics more than starting price. For 2020, the Rolls-Royce Ghost took the title, and two other Rollers make the list of nominees for 2021:

• Rolls Royce Cullinan

• Bentley Bentayga

• Rolls Royce Dawn

• Genesis  G80

• Mercedes-Benz S-class

• Mercedes-Benz EQS

• Bentley Continental GT Speed

The finalists for the Best Interior Award for 2021 are:

2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

With an all-new design for 2021, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Sedan comes to the party with multi-contour seats with massage function, high-end leather, and either real wood or aluminum trim. Other than being stunning to look at, it’s also wonderful to spend time in, with loads of legroom, heating and ventilation for the seats, air purification, sunshades on the windows, soft-close doors that are hands-free, and optionally reclining rear seats with footrests. On the technology front, a 12.8-inch OLED screen, wireless smartphone connectivity, rear-seat entertainment, and superb audio courtesy of Burmester are all on the menu.

2021 Rolls-Royce Cullinan

As you’d expect from the legendary marque, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan presents a special interior that is both plush and refined. The infotainment screen is 10.25 inches in size but fits well into the elegantly ergonomic dashboard. The materials used are sublime, and the way the cabin is insulated is unparalleled. Suicide rear doors make for easy ingress and egress and close at the touch of a button, and the exquisite Shooting Star headliner makes this a place you’d love to spend your time in.

2021 Genesis G80

Leading its class, the Genesis G80 made the cut for its luxurious feel, outstanding design, and brilliant ergonomics. The interior offers a perfect blend of leather, wood, and metal, and the CarBuzz test drivers loved the minimalist theme that proclaimed high quality throughout. The 14.5-inch touchscreen is elegantly incorporated into the dash, and classy, knurled switches are the perfect finishing touch. 

Despite its lower price in comparison to other nominees, the G80 has access to power-closing doors, heated rear seats, power sunshades for the rear seats, a premium Lexicon audio setup with 21 speakers, and genuine Nappa leather. The manner in which Genesis incorporates the air vents into the dash and provides thoughtful storage spaces is noteworthy too. The G80 is a worthy competitor in the segment.
