20 Baltimore students learn math faster with holiday help from HailBytes

One classroom in Baltimore, Maryland has made the jump from pen and paper to a digital learning environment thanks to HailBytes partnering with PNC Grow Up Great®.

“2020 has been a tough time for educators and their students. As businesses have had to make the jump to remote work, so have teachers had to make the jump to remote instruction.” said David McHale, Founder & Principal of HailBytes. “Keeping young children engaged in remote instruction is no small task. Mrs. Frederick is doing critical work to develop math skills for her young students.”
Mrs. Frederick is a Pre-K teacher at Liberty Elementary School in Baltimore, MD.
“My 4-year old students are curious and full of creative energy.” said Mrs. Frederick.
Her Pre-K students engage in at least 1 hour of asynchronous learning activities each day. The platform her students use for learning forces them to use older touch screen devices. Students are struggling to use their tablets without appropriate styluses. Teaching math without physical examples is even more challenging.
“My students would benefit from [resources to] make virtual math learning more fun and hands on.” explained Mrs. Frederick.
