Ryland Dixon sells his LEGO™related membership site BibleBuilds.com to NY Times Bestselling Author Jefferson Bethke for an undisclosed five-figure sum

Charlotte, NC (PRUnderground) December 10th, 2020

In the spring of 2020, when schools were first shut down from the coronavirus pandemic, ten-year-old Ryland Dixon had an idea.

As a lover of LEGO, Ryland wanted to find a way to stay connected to his friends during the pandemic.

“I thought, let’s create a weekly LEGO building challenge and vote on the winner,” explains Ryland.

He knew he was onto something when he talked to his dad, Brian Dixon, an author and entrepreneur.

“I loved to see the creativity but encouraged Ryland to somehow bring in his Christian faith,” stated Brian.

And that’s where Bible Builds was born.

Bible Builds became a membership site where families pay $15 a month and receive a weekly video retelling of a Bible story created by Ryland, and a challenge to build something out of LEGO related to the story.

And the site quickly drew attention.

“Before you knew it, we had members all over the country and even a member from England! It was really crazy,” states Ryland.

Only five weeks into running this little business, Ryland received a message he’ll never forget.

“My dad called me from a conference and told me that a famous author wanted to buy my company. I thought that was awesome!”

The author was Jefferson Bethke, NYT best-selling author of 5 books, and popular conference speaker.

“As soon as I heard about Bible Builds, I knew they were onto something—mainly because me and my 6 year olds daughter LOVED it and wanted to be a members!’ states Jefferson. “I’m passionate about using the internet to help families understand biblical truth while having a lot of fun and I saw Bible Builds as the perfect partner to helping us impact more families for the kingdom! And let’s be honest, Ryland is a legend!”

After a few weeks working out the details, Ryland officially sold his business to Jeff for an undisclosed five figure sum.

“My goal when I first created Bible Builds was to have fun and make $1000 before I turned 11,” explains Ryland, “I never imagined that I would sell the whole company!”

But Ryland isn’t going anywhere! In fact he stayed on as a minority stake owner of Bible Builds and still contributes to the weekly video teaching content. Partnering with the Bethke family, Bible Builds is set to scale, helping thousands of families have fun and learn about the Bible.

So what is Ryland going to do with the money from selling his business?

“I bought myself an Apple Watch and I’m saving the rest for the future. I even have a few ideas about how to help kids start their own businesses.”
