The Young Americans Board of Directors Appoints New Chief Executive Officer.

The Young Americans Board of Directors announced today the appointment of Steven Haines as the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer. Haines has more than 25 years of experience in non-profit and performing arts management, working with some of the country’s most notable organizations and artists.
Most recently Haines served as VP of Strategic Growth and Marketing for the iconic San Francisco Zoo. Prior to that, Haines had tremendous success as Executive Director of San Francisco’s Stern Grove Festival, VP of The Philadelphia Orchestra, President & CEO of The Philly Pops as well as marketing manager with The Florida Philharmonic. In San Francisco, Haines also served as a member of the board of directors of the San Francisco Travel Association.
The Young Americans’ Board President, Phil Lisle, commented, “This is a historic time for the entire organization as we have found ourselves in midst of a huge growth spurt and in need of additional leadership support. As a board, we are thrilled to have been able to find such a strong, innovative professional to help lead The Young Americans forward into the next chapter of success.”
Since its founding in 1962 by Milton C. Anderson, The Young Americans organization has grown immensely into a global performing arts sensation and is now the largest non-profit youth music education organization in the world. The group currently has 320 cast members, all who attend The Young Americans College of the Performing Arts, and has taken its love of music and performing all over the world. Its “Turn Up The Music” International Music Outreach Tours have visited hundreds of communities, across 32 countries and 5 continents, influencing over one million children worldwide.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, Haines received cum laude honors with a degree in French and International Communications. A musician by avocation, he considers himself lucky to share his professional expertise with his passion for music.
