The Strickland Protocol is the only scientifically proven cure for Osgood Schlatters DIsease. However it also successfully treats Sinding Larsen Johansson syndrome. We asked one mother to explain how she discovered The Strickland Protocol and how it worked for her. Anna is mother and coach to 10 year old Isabella. Anna also coaches many other young athletes.
“Isabella is a competitive Little Athlete, cross country runner and a keen hockey player. She is one of those kids that always gives one hundred percent. She never goes half heartedly, only ever full pace. Her drive and competitiveness make her one of the highest performing athletes for her age group and grade.
Isabella was diagnosed with Sinding Larsen Johansson syndrome when she was 8 years old. The physiotherapist told us to rest and it would recover in due course. It did, approximately 9 weeks later, she no longer displayed any symptoms. Alas, when she was just about to turn 10 her symptoms returned severely. It hurt her to do anything on her knee, she limped when she ran and could no longer participate in her beloved athletics. She was devastated and to see her so debilitated and distraught, was upsetting for me, her mother and coach. She missed state team selection and the inter-school carnival. Two very big events in a 10 year olds life.
Knowing it would take weeks to heal, I researched everything about SLJ. I am now an expert in growth plates, overuse injuries, tendons and the list goes on. In fact, I have googled everything and beyond what comes up for SLJ. Fortunately I stumbled across Jenny’s ‘Strickland Protocol’. I of course read every blurb and comment that mentioned this protocol, and everything about this course of action seemed so simple and logical. Why hadn’t I seen this before? Why hadn’t those endless physio pages I had opened mentioned this treatment? Desperate to do anything to assist my daughter get back to the track, rather than wait, I purchased the ‘Strickland Protocol’.
I read it cover to cover and was delighted to see that I had already applied some of the treatment. My daughter and I followed Jenny’s treatment religiously, hoping that this would speed up the recovery process. It just seemed so simple and almost exactly to the timeframe Jenny’s protocol predicts, Isabella made her recovery. We were so nervous when she finally went back to compete. What if she wasn’t healed? What if it came back and we were at square one? Such questions did not need to be asked. She has made a complete recovery, competing in all events from Triple Jump, to hurdles, to the 1500metres.
As a coach of young athletes, including my daughter I have seen instances of knee pain before and continue to do so. I have learnt so much from this protocol. The importance of stretching, maintaining flexibility and warming up and cooling down, particularly in young, growing athletes. Isabella will certainly be continuing to apply the recommendations made to prevent this syndrome ever reoccurring. She too, has learnt a lot about being an athlete, the heartache involved, the importance of keeping your body in good shape and how to do it.
Jenny’s protocol is the only program I have found that actually provides a cure, as well as measures to prevent these symptoms from coming back. I most certainly will be spreading the word and directing athletes towards this program. Isabella’s fitness has almost returned now and she can look forward to a great season, that for some weeks looked in jeopardy. In total she only missed four weeks. As I write that, I can’t believe it! I can only hope more young athletes find and implement the Strickland Protocol, and reap its benefits.
What’s more, Jenny provided personal advice when I wasn’t sure what to do, or where to go next. It was far more advice and understanding than I had received from any physiotherapist face to face. We are forever grateful for your work, study and this masterpiece you provide. If you have SLJ or Osgood Schlatters this is definitely the program for you. Use it – we are so glad we did.
A forever grateful mother and coach”
Anna gave an in-depth account of her experiences; it is a helpless time for parents when their child is in pain. The Strickland Protocol is proven to cure if followed 100%.
