New MOX Accelerator to Create Apps for the Next 4 Billion Mobile Phone Users
Industry: Business
MOX aims to help best-of-breed mobile startups become dominant players in countries where mobile phones are the first or only way users access the internet.
Taipei, Taiwan (PRUnderground) January 18th, 2016
MOX, SOSV’s Mobile-Only Accelerator, kicked off its program in Taipei with eight companies selected from hundreds of applicants. The companies are from Spain, India, Israel, Hong Kong, Korea, China and the US, and range from early stage to global players with millions of existing users. MOX aims to help these best-of-breed mobile startups become dominant players in countries where mobile phones are the first or only way users access the internet.
“MOX is the world’s first accelerator focused on mobile solutions targeting the next four billion smartphone users,” says Alvin Wang Graylin, MOX Program Director. “Every MOX participant receives an unfair advantage from the moment they enter our program as we provide essentially unlimited free marketing to hundreds of millions of users.”
Over each two month program, the startups will receive support from some of the best digital minds, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. MOX’s strategic partnerships with leading handset makers, carriers and software vendors provide its participants instant access to hundreds of millions of mobile users at no cost to them, as well as a vast mentor network including more than 60 mobile industry experts.
“Most app startups like us spend a huge portion of their budget on user acquisition. But as a MOX participant, we don’t have to since they give us unlimited marketing resources to ramp users rapidly. MOX is also bringing us to new markets and giving us a ton of support that we will drive real-world success,” says Hyunjae Choi, CEO of Taggle.
Traditionally, early stage companies struggle to expand beyond their home markets and especially into emerging markets where monetization can be difficult.
“Mobile startups depend on rapid user growth and a viable revenue model to be successful. This is why we created MOX, where we can deliver both automatically to our batches. No other accelerator can help startups ramp revenue and users around the world the way we can,” says William Bao Bean, Investment Partner, SOSV. “We are also fortunate to have Alvin, a seasoned mobile-industry entrepreneur, as the program director. I’m confident he will lead MOX to become the leading accelerator targeting mobile-only markets globally.”
MOX will hold two demo days for the its first batch on March 1st (Taipei) and March 3th (Singapore). Interested qualified investors please contact us directly via the email below.
