When it comes to holiday fun in the New York City, “Christmas Eve for the Jews” has been a favorite for eight years, selling out annually. 2020’s event has demanded changes with the show moving online in response to Covid-19, but the energy and anticipation is still as high as ever. Comedian Joel Chasnoff recently announced he will host “Christmas Eve for the Jews” online on December 24th, working with City Winery and featuring a remarkable lineup. It’s recommended to get tickets soon and prepare for a fun and funny night. The excitement surrounding it is high and rising.

“When I first pitched City Winery on the idea of a Christmas comedy show, we didn’t know if anyone would show up,” commented Joel. “But they did – in droves! Apparently, Jews were really excited to finally have something cool to do on Christmas Eve – something just for them.”

This year’s highlights include headlining comedian Mark Normand, who has appeared multiple times on The Tonight Show and Conan; Jess Kirson (The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon); host of NPR’s “Ask Me Another” Ophira Eisenberg; and Toronto sketch comedy group Comedy Never Wins.

Joel Chasnoff’s own resume is something to admire. He’s been a full-time comedian for 20 years, performing at more than 1,000 Jewish events in ten countries – everything from the Melbourne Comedy Festival to Chabad Centers in Zurich and Lima, and Israeli late-night TV.

Joel’s also an accomplished author. He wrote the acclaimed comedic memoir “The 188th Crybaby Brigade” about his year in the Israel Defense Forces; co-authored the cookbook “Balaboosta” with Israeli chef Einat Admony; and in 2022 St. Martin’s Press will publish his latest, “There Is No Ball,” about tennis strategy, technique, and mental toughness, co-written with coach Ian Westermann.
