Gardner Intelligence announced today that their annual World Machine Tool Survey Report and its data are now available for purchase. Leading the list of producers in 2022 was China at $27.1 billion and of the top 10 machine tool-producing countries, only India and Brazil posted year-over-year gains at modest increases in real U.S. dollars (adjusted for currency exchange rates and inflation) over their 2021 levels.
In contrast, the United States saw the largest drop at approximately 24%. Though the drop was significant, 2022 nonetheless was a solid year for the machine tool industry. According to AMT – The Association for Manufacturing Technology, 2022 was the third-best year on record for new orders for machine tools in the U.S.
